Valentine’s Day usually comes wrapped in roses, chocolates, and the idea that romantic love is the headline act. And while love can be beautiful in that way, this year I’m honoring the love that carried me—quietly, consistently, sometimes without applause.
This is my Valentine’s Day acknowledgment to the loves of my life.
First, to God—
The Author of my becoming.
The steady presence when everything else felt unsure.
The One who loved me before I had words for what I needed, who covered me when I didn’t know how to ask, who held my family together when I felt like I was unraveling. Every act of love I’ve received traces back to You. Every breath of relief. Every unexpected provision. Every moment I didn’t fall apart when I thought I would. You are the root of all that has bloomed in my life.
To my children—
My living valentines.
You are the love that redefined my understanding of strength. You made me braver than I ever planned to be. Loving you taught me endurance, tenderness, humor, sacrifice, and hope all at once. You remind me daily why I keep going, why I keep creating, why I keep believing that beauty can still rise from hard places. You are my heart walking around outside my body, and I am endlessly grateful I get to be your mother.
To my sister and my chosen sisters—
Thank you for loving me without conditions or performance.
For checking in. For praying. For laughing with me when life got heavy. For reminding me who I am when I forgot. Sisterhood is holy work, and your love has been a shelter more times than you know.
To my extended family—my uncle, my mother-in-law, and those connected to me by blood, love, and grace:
Thank you for the care, the encouragement, and the steady presence that has wrapped around me and my children in ways that truly matter.
To my mentors—
Those who saw something in me before I saw it in myself.
Thank you for your wisdom, your patience, your truth-telling, and your belief. Thank you for pouring into me not for recognition, but because you understood that love multiplies when it’s shared. You helped shape the woman I am becoming.
To my neighbors and community—
To the ones who showed up with meals, kind words, understanding, grace, and practical help. To those who didn’t turn away when life was messy or inconvenient. You lived out love in action, and that matters more than you’ll ever know.
To my friends—
Old ones. New ones. Near and far.
Thank you for staying. For listening. For sending the text, the prayer, the laugh, the reminder that I’m not alone. Thank you for loving me as I am and encouraging me toward who I’m becoming.
And to anyone who has glorified God by loving me and mine—
This is for you.
Love is not always loud. Sometimes it’s quiet faithfulness. Sometimes it’s showing up again. Sometimes it’s choosing compassion when it would be easier to keep your distance. Every time you chose love, you reflected something divine.
So today, I celebrate love in its truest form—
Love that covers.
Love that carries.
Love that heals.
Love that stays.
This Valentine’s Day, my heart is full—not because of flowers or cards, but because of people. Because of grace. Because of God.
And that, to me, is the greatest love story of all. 💗

Your words are a beautiful encouragement of the goodness in people. Love you and Thank you!
Gina, thank you. That blesses me so much. I’m grateful the words landed in a place of goodness — that’s always the goal. Love you.
